In conjunction with a team of highly regarded college and university professors, Omni Publishers is very proud to introduce the new Educator Ethics Series.  These state specific publications take a unique approach to the study of ethics for educators, an increasingly important aspect of their professional preparation in both the United States and Canada.
Use of the case method, where the cases are drawn from real life, is a powerful pedagogical tool. All the more so when the incidents happened in the student’s home state because he or she cannot dismiss them by saying: “That couldn’t happen here.” Students know hypothetical cases are fictional. They lack the hard-to-disregard message of actual events. Our authors have done the research and found and organized the cases for you, made them accessible by eliminating "legalese," and analyzed them so you can teach the concepts that underlie them efficiently and effectively.
The Educator Ethics Series is designed to give an in depth explanation of the theory and practice behind professional ethics for educators.

Emphasizing applied ethics, each book begins with an introduction to thie field of ethics and addresses such subjects as morality, law, education, rights and principles, tradition, virtue and character.

Each state and province version focuses on the ethical requirements for educators in that state or province and the operation of the agency charged with their enforcement.  Each gives numerous detailed examples of actual cases that have arisen and been addressed by the agencies and courts of that state or province.

The initial concept for the series was developed  by Frances Paterson, J.D., Ed.D., who teaches school law and related courses at Valdosta State University, Valdosta, GA.   Using the approach taken in the Educator Ethics Series, Dr. Paterson has taught professional ethics to well over 2000 education students.

Omni has been serving America's educators with legal guides since 1989.  We look forward to continuing to provide your needs.
